Monkshood - by Anne Mather - Harlequin Presents - # 29 - 1981.

Melanie was intrigued by her inheritance of a house, Monkshood, in the highlands of Scotland, although common sense told her that because she was soon to marry a London solicitor she could not really consider living there. Nevertheless she very much wanted to see it for herself before deciding what to do next.
Then she learned that the ominously named Sean Bothwell looked on it as his property and it did seem he had moral grounds for doing so. But still Melanie could not commit herself to parting with the place.
Did her reluctance to give it up have anything to do with her reactions to Sean? If so, she had better forget about him, for quite apart from her own fiancee, how could she hurt the nice Jennifer Craig who needed Sean so much?
